Honest Review: L.A. Colors Polish All The Way

Oh. My. God. So I got this kit for Christmas and I’ve been trying to find the motivation to review it. So tonight…I decided why not. Must buy your own batteries first (AA x2).

So MINI bottles of polish of course. Glitter that ain’t worth a dime (I love glitter). So I tried it with the purple polish FOLLOWED THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS and it turned out shitty. I love polish. I own more than 100 DIFFERENT polishes and 6 glitters plus 2 powders. I know enough about it to at least make a fair call.

  1. Polish was too runny so I ended up using my own for the powders.
  2. base/top coat? Really they are 2 separate things (I generally do not use but do own)
  3. the containers were cracked for a couple glitters
  4. Using the dryer smelled like smoke.

So I do not recommend this product at all. The smell alone is dangerous.

Honest Review: Steak & Shake

One of my favorite places to eat and with good reason. I used to go for the grilled cheese (way back when I was a kid) and then I switched to the fresco burger, now it’s a double ‘n cheese with fresco sauce on it. Why?

So right now they have a 4 meals for $4. They include either burgers or chicken things, fries, a cookie, and a side of your choice. YUM!!! So I pay a little extra to get the seasoning on the fries (double order).

Now I’m a FIRM believer in, your waitress should at least like her job. Dy is one of them. She is my usual and one of the best. Never had bad service with her working. Great food, great attitude, always checking, answering if we need her, and an all around amazing person. She is hard to miss if you come in around like 9-10 pm. I’m a night owl so yeah.

So we visited tonight. I took a friend with us (she paid for her own shake) and she was surprised by the level of respect, promptness, and memory Dy had for our orders. We’re simple people. Good food and good staff keep us coming back. Any restaurant should know this.

“Your staff can make or break you.” -DO NOT REMEMBER WHO SAID IT (used to watch under cover boss).

I will always suggest at least trying the fresco sauce for dipping fries in. Yum. Garlic sauce is good to but not a personal favorite.

Miss Dy

1st shake: real strawberry banana; 2nd: dark chocolate (I hate shakes but I love this one); and 3rd is a cookies and cream.

We had onion rings to. Both got the same order only difference is she didn’t get the same sauce. Ash got the ranch (normal for her).

Honest review: Marinos

Oh lord…not much good I can say about this place. Dirty, nasty food (only good thing was the SALAD), and the games sometimes didn’t work. Prizes were a joke.

My nephew wanted to go to this place. He regretted it. He didn’t even like the pizza he had them make. The buffet style dinning meant not enough for the amount of people and everyone was touching everything but the salad. He was mad. He played a few games and half the time it ate his tokens. Complain? Yes. Get fixed? No. They said that he had no proof that he had even played a token. So yeah.

The bitch at the prize counter. OH MY FUCKING GOD. I wanted to punch her. She kept getting an attitude with him because he wanted a few items more than 1 large prize. He was being smart with the tickets he had won. The staff sucked. The salt and pepper was no where to be seen, the salad was almost like eating ICE. Just not a good night. I went in knowing that it was a good place according to my nephew so I wanted to give it a REAL try. Biggest mistake ever.

So over all this place left me hungry, angry, and disgusted. The bathrooms smelled like shit was smeared on the walls. It was horrible. And you could smell it in the game area. Just nope. Never again.

Honest Review: Alskate Fun Center

So to start this is a skate rink. Nothing fancy but a lot of fun. So my mom for my nephew’s birthday (1/26/2008), he wanted to originally go ice skating. We told him to go ice skate on the side walk so we decided regular was better. He was thrilled. So…we went.

Okay, best deal in town is:

$40- 4 people get in, skate rental, LAZER TAG, and 12 tokens to play games.

But you have to pay ahead of time online. No big deal in today’s digital era. So the inside hasn’t changed since I was a kid going there for school field trips. And trust me, you NEVER forget how to skate. So a dj was willing to take requests (and did). He rarely played slow songs and for the most part it was a mix of modern and older music, country to rap. It was a bit of all for everyone.

So lazer tag!?! Okay bear in mind, I do not play shooter games. So this was a bit out of my zone. So…it was 13 total. 4 adults the rest kids under the age of 13. Do you realize how uncomfortable it is to be playing with midgets? 3 of the kids didn’t even come up to my hips. One was SOO tiny she barely fit her vest (I mean this thing ate her). I laughed at the tiny one. She stayed with me and Ash in our base. SO MUCH FUN!!! LIKE ADULTS RUNNING AROUND WHILE KIDS ARE SHOOTING EACH OTHER!!….This is a lazer tag not REAL GUNS!!! NOT REAL GUNS!! Also lazer tag is older than me, so no issues forever. ANY WHOOO…..

So I didn’t get ANY shots of the floor to skate on because PEOPLE!! Also during intermission…I was in lazer tag. Any way snack area has eh prices. A large pop (medium size any where else) is $3. No refill. And trust me you gonna want a drink. It’s a work out there. We got 4 pops for $12 and 4 pops and a order of cheesesticks for $13. So not bad…but…not the best.  They have cotton candy (in a tub), pretzels, pizza, popcorn and Pickles to which you can get a shot of juice for 50 cents.

The game room…was something. Some games took 1 token, a couple took 2, and some took 4. So bear that in mind when playing.

So for games you need a prize area:

So over all it is a fun family place. Saturday open is from Noon to 9 pm.

Honest review of Virginia Coney Island

First of all if you EVER come to Jackson, MI you have to come to Virginia Coney Island for a coney. Locals know how to order it. But this is 100% honest so there will be some bad in it. I’ve been going to it for as long as I can remember. It’s on a main stretch of road and right near a 2nd coney island (review on that one later).

So to start Jackson has a few different coney islands and no 2 coneys taste the same. We have Alpha, Roosters, Andy’s, Virginia, Jackson, and another Andy’s. So yeah we big on our coneys here.

So to start: if you like onions just order as it comes or say extra. But if you anything like me and HATE onions that aren’t deep fried, say without. Like I said locals know the code for it. It comes with mustard and take it from someone who HATES mustard, you gonna want it.

They are meant to be messy. So the hot dogs are always steamed and grilled. You never notice the grilled. No 2 coneys will look 100% the same. As you can see but the taste is amazing.

They have a variety of side options from typical french fries (crinkle cut and good) to onion rings. They have salads (never personally had one). The onion rings are always crispy and fresh and good. Never had a bad batch yet. Fries however…I have had them give me burnt ones during rush times. No complaints honestly since I can’t really blame them when they’re pushing out an order for 300 hot dogs, 150 coneys, a lot of onion rings, chips, and some caned pop. So I wasn’t mad. You never wait very long on your food. I think the longest was 15 minutes and that was again during rush. You can call ahead but I recommend going in sitting in the old dinner style restaurant and just meet the wait staff.

So they have breakfast to. My personal favorite since I am allergic to eggs is smothered potatoes (order it as american fries with sausage gravy the name hasn’t stuck yet). Amazing. They have a thick but not too thick gravy and the potatoes are always good.

20190124_195618

Now here is the real kicker, all the food you just say plus a cup of coffee and a pop only cost $14.75. The price on the menu is the price you will pay. Tax included in the price. It’s been the same price…forever I think. Since I can remember any way. After the pictures of the menu I will describe the bad times I have had and what to look out for besides burnt fries.

So the bad:

You can hear everything the staff is saying. There is limited parking in front and back.  Single stall style bathrooms. The staff isn’t always nice. You might have to catch their attention for refills.

But overall this place will make you feel welcomed and it has a map that if you’re an out of towner you can stick a pin in it to show how far you’ve come to try their delicious food. The owners are a nice older couple who still work there on occasion.  It’s voted #1 in the city and #5 in the state. It is my personal favorite and each coney island has different prices and cost a lot more. So if you’re on a budget like me, this is a good place to sit, get a cup of coffee, and have a nice filling meal.
